Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is an Mexican American Sportcaster. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since when she was nine years old. Her ability was crucial in helping her land her first role as producer assistant at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she collaborated with producers of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. After this she was hired by it was the CBS affiliate that is located in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter for sports. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas to become a news reporter for The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The newscast covered stories related to immigration as well as drug-trafficking on both sides of the border of Mexico-Texas, she worked as a reporter on newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of news at 9 p.m. news in English as well as reporting for the 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. The station also frequently asked her to fill in as an anchor for weather and sports. They eventually moved to Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. There is also a sister. Her family relocated in Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. In 1992, her parents divorced and shortly afterward in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo who was the engineer for naval vessels who died in 2006 of kidney cancer. The summer vacation that she stayed with her sibling and her sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten work. Antonietta was a senior in high school with an idea of what she wanted her future to be like, travelled to Mount Union University to check what she could get out of the college. As it turned out she loved the campus, and they had the program she was looking for. Her studies were completed and she received a scholarship to the University with a degree in media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor of WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a participant. He guided her to become confident in herself and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her, as did she. She determined to meet the expectations of him and not disappoint him.
